Callback Films - Callie Che's A2 Media Evaluation
I used various media technologies such as YouTube, PowerPoint, Google images, and the snipping tool for my trailer analysis. I used YouTube to find the trailers to analyse, choosing trailers which fit the postmodern theme and were therefore appropriate to my production. I presented my research through PowerPoint which allowed me to keep track of multiple trailer analyses by keeping them together on one PowerPoint. Within my PowerPoints, I used images from the trailer to give a visual of what I was analysing, these images were taken from the YouTube trailers using the snipping tool which let me screenshot a specific part of the trailer. I also used Google images to find the filmstrip image which I presented the trailer screenshots on. I then put all of my trailer analysis PowerPoints onto my blog on Blogger through Slideshare which allowed me to present all of my work in an organised format.

In the research stage, I analysed both existing trailers and specific conventions of those trailers such as title, genre, lighting etc.

How did you use media technologies in the research stage?

Convention Analysis
Snipping Tool
YouTube
Prezi
I used media technologies such as Google, Prezi, YouTube, and the snipping tool to research specific conventions of trailers such as genre. I used Google to research definitions of the conventions I used which allowed me give specific detail relating to each convention. I used YouTube and the snipping tool again to find and take images from trailers that were similar in genre to the one I had chosen, in this example, I used Cinderella and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones because they were both of a drama/fantasy genre which is the one I selected for my trailer. I chose to present my work on Prezi which is a more animated platform than PowerPoint and creates a more intriguing method of presenting and viewing work. I then embedded this Prezi onto my blog on Blogger where all my work is displayed.
